Distraction...

Everytime I swtiched on my laptop to do work, I ended up doing something else. Distracted by things. This morning I woke up early at 8am. Not sure why but maybe cos these days ive been waking up early to do things.

OK I admit ive been doing a lot of leisure activities this semester. With golf, socialising with people by going out for supper, watching dvds at Kai’s place, watching movie at cinemas, it was sure a lot of things done though. Its kinda refreshing also since its something that ive always been. I mean ive always been a social kinda person though it wud take me some time to open up. My Bo-chapness and all. Even my brother noticed the bo-chapness in me. Haha I din even though that he noticed man.

Life this semester is improving. I go out more often thus im not so tense up. Well as some of u noe, I hate loneliness. I cant survive being alone. It just kills me. I guess that’s y wen im alone, bad thoughts came into my mind and overpower me. I start thinking of negative things about everything.

Finally I managed to get a job here. Started yesterday. Feels weird working on the floor at first. Doing things back then that I just ordered people around to do it unstead of doing it myself. Carrying the big oval tray filled with 5 white plates was tough man. I remembered that back in RH, all I did was to help clear the tables and the part-timers or the guys would be clearing the side stations. This time around I had 4 tables to take care of. At first was just 3 round tables of 10 then last minute an oblong was set up to cater to the last minute additions. It feels good to be in the front of house service, direct contact. Being able to accommodate to guests request by doing things like getting the security guard a cup of coffee and plate of danish pastries without getting knocked in the head by the chef. Yah down here exec chef is also the bqt chef. And guess wat, hes french too. Haiz me n french chefs..temperamental as usual. Haha…but I guess its jus them. Frenchmen always wants the best. And we set a record yesterday by serving set breakfast to 270 pax in 19 minutes. Wuhoo..not bad for the first day uh. Oh yah another I noticed, we had Premier Beatty in attendance but guess wat, he only had one security guard with him. 2nd hand man in Parliament and only one! Imagine if its back in SG, he would be having at least 3-4 people surrounding him man. The room wasn’t even check for bombs or something sei. See how uptight SG can b at times man.

Well ROTP is a small hotel. Apparently after talking to some of the partimers yesterday, Stanford is the best hotel in brissy. Well I can apply there after I grad la to see how. The whole mgmt team for ROTP is on one level. Even the EAM office din seem like an EAM office man. Haha casual atmostphere where open door policy is applicable. I think as compared to RH, this open door policy is so much more OPEN man. Mgmt team is really small. Even the F&B mgr takes care of functions. Cool right? She walks around without her blazer at times and jokes ard with us like shes at our level. Its really a family kinda hotel man. I feel so good. Its like back in Catering once I first joined. Just that this time ard, its not one dept, it’s the whole hotel!

Sch is harder this sem though. I really need to work on financial management. Needs a lot of practice. Tmr would be spent on topic 6 n 7 which is portfolio analysis. I need to see my tutor on wed to check the previous 5 topics. Well results for midsem came out, I failed. Passed my 2nd portion of the paper but I failed the MCQ. Ok some of u think MCQ is easy but nah! One qn is 5 marks and needs a lot of calculations! Which I screwed up most of them and din managed to finish d last 4 qns. So that’s 20 marks gone! At least I did well for my assignment so hopefully it can pull up my grades abit. But exams is 55% hmm hopefully I can remember things better for finals.

Right now my goals is to get at least grade 6 for Asian cultures, 5 for Gaming and 4 for Law, FM and Hotel Technology. Hotel technology is the worst subject right now. Project work is not pulling up my grades so hopefully I do well enough in exams to get a 4. Law quizzes is kinda bad in the first few sessions. I panic most of the time so ended up not reading the qns properly. Trying to get full marks for the next few quizzes so that I don’t loose more unneccessary marks. At least tutorials got marks so im quite safe. Actually Law isnt tat bad. Just that I need to remember a lot of different cases for the different types of law. Now waiting for Gaming essay results. Not sure how I did but I think its jus a pass grade. Cos I din put in much effort. Too many assignments due at the same time. Almost drove me crazy at that point of time.

Ok back to essay. I need to get it half done by today! That’s the goal today. After that gonna do some reading for gaming and do the draft presentation outline for Virtuoso, my hotel technology assignment. So many things to do with so little time! Im going berserk!!
