When I close my eyes I realize
What I see is not as real
As how I react to what I think and feel.
The world around me is but a reflection
My own view, from my own perception
What I perceive to be true
Is as real to me as what you perceive is to you.
So the next time you disagree
Try to remember diplomacy
Diplomates accept that no one is always right or wrong
That is what makes them strong
The ability to see and hear the other side
And to keep personal feelings aside.
We would all benefit from handling things this way
From global decisions, down to the day to day
From our Presidency and leaders in high congressional seats
Right down to regular folks passing by in the streets.
I say this because how we solve the problems of today,
And if our children our taught to handle conflict the right way,
Will determine the price our future must pay.
So close your eyes
And realize
What you see is not as real
As how you react to what you think and feel
