Hari Raya Feast

i had pple yest for a get-together..my malay mates from both uni..n my grpmates frm sch..

Menu for Raya tis yr

Nasi Briyani Bombay
Nasi Briyani Sindhi
Rendang Lembu (Beef)
Ayam Tandoori (Chicken Tandoori)
Ayam Kurma (Hmm something like Mixed Spices Curry)
Acar Timun (Cucumber, carrots pickled)
Paceri Nenas (Pineapple pickled with spices)
Sambal Ikan Bilis (anchovies in chilli paste)
Sayur Lodeh (Vegetables in coconut cream style curry)
Ketupat Instant (instant rice cakes)
Kuah Satay (Peanut sauce gravy)
Satay goreng (Fried satay)

yup..i cooked all that, except the ayam kurma cos faisal offered to cook for me. i did all by myself tis yr cos grace had to work n dira had assignment. but they helped me up in other ways. grace cleaned the house, dira washed up after everyone left.

first time i cook sayur lodeh...never ever i made them..glad tt pple like them..i jus super love cooking for pple..cant wait to have my own house! to rule n cook every wk..no worries to those who missed it..i think if i have my own house back in sg, every wkend got differnt pple tasting my cooking..haha dreams..

almost had a heart attack twice yest! ard 7pm..i was running out of chix tandoori! took out my marinated satay n fried them...din actually plan to fry them cos i know that i din marinate them well. lucky i premarinate the balance of the chicken wings, by the time the west end pple came, i was out of tandoori..n cooking halfway the balance wings..lucky some pple cudnt make it..so i had jus nice..otherwise if the turnout was exactly the amt tt i invited..cialat..out of food! need to fry something i guess..or make my late grandma recipe of mee kachang hehee..

but the most memorable one...i almost burnt the house down..hah..it was something tat i cant never forgot..i was boiling some sugar syrup in a small pot. den after tat i din wash properly in getting rid of the sugar, heat the pot n put in oil..skali..kaboom..fire! i took the pan n brought it to the sink..open the tap n instead of puttin out the fire, it inflamed bigger. my poor brush on top of the sink got burnt! but the fire died down..n then alarm went off..lucky grace was still around!

PS: connie..i almost burnt my coconut..ehhe was cuttin veges while frying them for the rendang..skali i fogot abt them..heh lost my assistant in fryin the coconut...
